Water pollution

a) Problem description
b) Causes
c) Effects
d) Possible solutions
e) Conclusions

a) Planet earth, also known as the blue planet and thats true, 70% of the surface is water but our water isn't only a surface, unfortunately only 2.59% is drinkable. Of this 2.59% onother porcent is caught in form of polar caps, wich is 2%. The rest of the water is underground (0.592%), and river's, lake's water is only the 0.014%. But worst is that this small porcent is being polluted in high levels and in several ways.
If we don't start a change in our habits with water soon, in the future the consequences will be hopeless, that's why water pollution is an actual priority.

b) Most water pollution doesn't begin in the water itself. Take the oceans: around 80 percent of ocean pollution enters our seas from the land. Virtually any human activity can have an effect on the quality of our water environment. When farmers fertilise the fields, the chemicals they use are gradually washed by rain into the groundwater or surface waters nearby. Sometimes the causes of water pollution are quite surprising. Chemicals released by smokestacks (chimneys) can enter the atmosphere and then fall back to earth as rain, entering seas, rivers, and lakes and causing water pollution. Water pollution has many different causes and this is one of the reasons why it is such a difficult problem to solve.

c) There's a lot of effects that water pollution has left, the most importat is the low level of avaible water for human consumption, another several problem is the extinctionof many species, many infections and diseases have the water as a way for reproduction, among others.
We have countless examples:
Pollution of freshwater (drinking water) is a problem for about half of the world's population.
-Each year there are about 250 million cases of water-related diseases, with roughly 5 to 10 million deaths.
-Diseases caused by the ingestion of water contaminated with pathogenic bacteria, viruses, or parasites include: cholera, typhoid, schistosomiasis, dysentery and other diarrheal diseases.
-Each year, plastic waste in water and coastal areas kills up to: 100,000 marine mammals, 1 million sea birds, and countless fish.
-ETC.

d) It is hard to give a solution, because is not a easy problem, but there are two point where the problem can be attacked:
1.- Education. Unfortunately a lack of ambiental education exist nowadays and is our responsability avoid it, how? being a example for our future generations -monkey see monkey do-.
2.- Laws. The laws about water pollution are poor, and many people take andvantage of this fact, again, unfortunately this desicion take place on the hands of a minority.

e) We have the decision of what kind of world is the one that we want.
